Microsoft + Yahoo = Google Back To Reality?
Industry News May 21st. 2007, 10:38pmIt has been said several times that Microsoft will purchase Yahoo! and together they will try and take over the search engine world from Google. Right now Google dominates the search engine market, in the past Yahoo! has tried to play catch up as has MSN when they launched there MSN Live. The only way I see anyone able to catch and drag Google back to reality is for them to join forces. Yahoo! has already announced it is canceling services like Yahoo Photo and Yahoo Auctions. Are they down scaling and cutting off dead weight to make a company move easier? Maybe there cutting out the dead weight to make themselves look better for Microsoft to just buy them.
This has been the talk for the first half of 2007, weather or not Microsoft will be buying Yahoo! or not. Some argue that Yahoo! won’t sell out because they have put a lot of work in there product over the last decade and does not want that to go to waste. Keep in mind, the Yahoo Directory was the first searchable directory on the internet if I am not mistaken. At one time Yahoo! was the biggest company on the internet. Now Google has taken that spot over and is showing no signs of falling down or even backing up for that matter. I believe Microsoft needs to purchase Yahoo! in order to gain ground on Google and collect some of the market share for themselves. If this does not happen, I do not see either company being able to compete with Google since they have not been able to do so over the past few years. What new product will they launch next to take on Google, we all know MSN Live didn’t make the cut.
